Deb is making daily trips to the pasture right now. There are lots of folks watching our little one very closely but still, it makes a difference to be there and see for oneself. Also, I think she can't resist getting her hands on Alexios at every possible turn. Here are some shots from today's visit.
He seemed particularly fascinated with the water tank - perhaps he thought there was another youngster in there who might come out to play?
Everything warrants investigation at the moment.
No matter how curious he gets though, it is important that Momma always be close by.
Not only does she make him feel more secure, but it makes it much more convenient when it's time to nurse.
After snacking it was time to prance!
He seems to enjoy running through the shed.
Deb reports that he stopped by the water tank a number of times in the course of all his frolicking.
Mutual grooming strengthens the bond between mother and foal, and helps cultivate in the young one good social skills for when he is part of the larger herd.
His hooves are still tiny but they have started to harden. When he was born they were soft.
As any parent knows, it is important to make sure that all bodily functions in a baby are working correctly so Deb included this shot in the ones she sent today. She wanted to make sure that I knew he is doing plenty of nursing and all systems are just fine.
