This has not been a good week for spending time with the horses as both Deb and I have come down with a decidedly unpleasant respiratory bug. We had planned to work with Alexios today but just couldn't find the energy. Deb did get down there on Monday to check on everyone and gave Anastacia and Alexios some grazing time. These are a few shots that she took then.
Favorito was nosing around close to the fence line which drew Alexios' attention.
He wanted to know what Daddy was doing, and so joined in.
A gentle nibble almost seems like a moment of affection,
then it was back to exploring the weeds. There is nothing interesting there for them to eat so it almost seems Favorito was trying to create a moment for them to share.
Anastacia allowed it for a short while but then decided enough was enough and broke things up. You can see in this photo that Alexios has taken to nibbling on Anastacia's mane. This is something that is common for foals to do when they are teething but if it continues we will be exploring something to curb the behavior.
He is indeed a flexible little guy. There's nothing like a good scratch when you've got an itch.
He sure does love his momma.
We're hoping to be well enough tomorrow to at least set up my portable office down at the pasture so that we can get Alexios haltered again and they can have a few hours of grazing.
